Save. Contribute. Invest.
The model in full, what a member puts in, what the group does with it, and what comes back.
Illustrative account view. Real member figures are published only in the members' report.
The model
Three funds, one pool, agreed rules.
Save
Every member contributes a fixed amount on a fixed cycle. Small, regular and predictable beats large and occasional, the discipline is the product.
Contribute
A share of each contribution goes to a welfare fund the group can release quickly for medical costs, emergencies and school fees.
Invest
The remainder is lent to members for enterprise, or placed in a group investment decided on by vote and reported back to everyone.
How members participate
What is actually asked of you
Set contribution amount and cycle, agreed by the members, not set from outside. The amount is deliberately reachable for someone earning irregularly.
Members can borrow against the pool once they have contributed for qualifying period. Terms, limits and interest are set in the constitution and applied to everyone equally. Confirm loan terms
The welfare fund can be released faster than a loan and does not need to be repaid where the constitution provides for it, typically medical costs, bereavement and urgent school fees. Confirm welfare fund rules
One member, one vote at the general meeting. The elected committee runs the day-to-day and reports back. Minutes and accounts are available to every member.
Members can exit and withdraw their share according to the constitution's notice period. Confirm exit terms
The honest answer is that a chama is only as safe as its bookkeeping and its rules. Ours are written down, the accounts are open to members, and the committee is elected and removable. Add banking arrangement + who holds the funds
A member's year, illustrated
Shape only, no amounts are shown because none are confirmed. Replace with real cycle data once a full cycle closes
