Schools

A book set, a teacher pack and one session, the cheapest intervention we run, and often the one that changes a child's year.

How it works

What's inside

The school pack

Book set

Number of titles titles, large print, matte stock.

Teacher guide

How to read it, what to say, and what not to say. Written by teachers.

Classroom adjustments card

Front-row seating, glare, enlarged handouts, extra time. One page, on the wall.

Session with us

A visit from someone with albinism, the part children remember.

Teacher support

Most teachers are not unwilling. They are unbriefed.

A teacher who has never taught a learner with albinism does not know that the child is not being rude when they hold a book two inches from their face, or that moving them away from the window matters more than moving them to the front. Nobody told them. That is a fixable problem.

Low vision and what it actually looks like in a classroom, photophobia and seating, assessment adjustments, and how to handle name-calling without making the child the centre of attention.

Confirm session length and format

Confirm whether packs are free, subsidised or sponsored

Yes, the teacher guide is designed to work without us in the room. We would rather a hundred schools ran it alone than ten waited for us.

Where the books have gone

Every school on this map is a room where it landed.
